Bantul – On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Apikri held an international training session in collaboration with TTV USA, focusing on Quality Control (QC) for export readiness. The session took place in Apikri’s main hall from 19:00 to 21:30 WIB, which coincided with 07:00 to 09:30 AM U.S. time. The training was presented by Patrick Benz, an expert in sourcing and product quality standards, and moderated by Melissa Hand.
The program aimed to strengthen Apikri members' understanding of quality management in global markets. Patrick Benz began the session with an introduction to the concept of quality and its importance in today’s competitive environment. He emphasized that quality is not only about product appearance but also about meeting customer expectations and ensuring product functionality, safety, and durability.
Participants were introduced to the stages of the Quality Control process, including sample development, incoming material inspection, in-line checks during production, and final product inspection. Benz highlighted the significance of proactive inspections to detect defects early and prevent large-scale issues. He also discussed the difference between QC (Quality Control) and QA (Quality Assurance), stressing that building a culture of quality requires continuous improvement and teamwork.
A key topic covered was the AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) system, used to determine acceptable defect limits during inspection. Benz explained how manufacturers must follow international standards such as ISTA drop tests to ensure safe packaging and transport. Through real examples, he shared common QC problems, such as material inconsistencies, surface defects, weak packaging, and incorrect labeling.
The session concluded with a discussion on working with third-party QC partners and adopting best practices to meet international buyer requirements. Patrick Benz encouraged participants to view quality not as a final step, but as an ongoing commitment embedded in every stage of production.
This training reflected Apikri’s commitment to enhancing the professionalism and global readiness of its artisan network. Through continued collaboration with TTV USA, Apikri aims to strengthen export competitiveness and deliver products that meet international standards.
